Hey Brus! is platform dedicated to supporting the well-being of men that seeks to foster a supportive online space that offers practical advice. Central to our approach is the use of "Hey Brus!" cards, a novel communication tool designed to enable discreet and respectful expressions of support in environments where traditional forms of vulnerability might be seen as out of place.
These cards are a cornerstone in promoting a culture of understanding, and being there for our mates. They are low-key way to show support for a mate, colleague or family member who seems stressed. It's a subtle, no-pressure signal that says, "I see you, and I've got your back." The card can also point them towards helpful resources if they need them.
As a digital platform we are working towards strengthening the support networks of men, through championing effective communication strategies, including the importance of active listening and respecting boundaries, tailored specifically for the realities of men. We provide tools that encourage atmospheres where men feel comfortable seeking and offering support to each to each, thereby enhancing the collective resilience and well-being of their mates.
At Hey Brus! we also takes a comprehensive view of well-being by addressing Quality of Life (QoL) factors that affect men This includes aspects such as leisure and social interactions, economic security, physical safety, and the quality of the living environment. The content provided aims to assist individuals in balancing the demands of their work with their personal well-being, emphasising the importance of achieving professional satisfaction as well as a fulfilling life outside of work.
We offers segments like "No BS let's talk..." and "Built Back Better," which share stories of resilience and recovery, alongside advice on navigating other life challenges. These stories aim to inspire and empower men to pursue both a fulfilling career and life, supported by a strong sense of purpose and community.
Beyond workplace support, "Hey Brus!" extends its offerings to include practical stuff covering basic essential life skills from changing a tyre, to smoking brisket ends.
Hey Brus! is a self initative effort to support men and I invite you to check out the site, where well-being is a priority. Here at Hey Brus!, we strive to create a environment that contributes to thriving in a bloke's life. We know we can't be all things to all men, but we are gonna give it a red hot go!
And remember fellas, not everything is mental and its always better out than in!

Not Everything Is Mental!

The Northern Territory has the highest rates of male suicide in the country? And here's the thing – mental health isn't always the only reason fellas reach that point. There are a shit tonne of other factors, including Quality of Life stresses, that can contribute to men considering suicide:
Left unaddressed, these things can snowball, sometimes even lead to mental health issues like depression or anxiety, all major risk factors for suicide. So blokes, it's about facing these things head-on before they take over.
Support needs to be easier for fellas to access and feel safe about using. Services should be better at getting what men need and understanding their situations.
Strong mates matter too. A mate who just listens can make a bloody big difference in someone's life. That idea of blokes always gotta be tough nuts? It actually stops us from getting the help we need, right? Fellas, real strength is facing life's crap head-on, owning your struggles, and beating them. But it ain't about always going it alone.
Hey Brus! gives folks a way to show support without creating the pressure to talk. Passing on a Hey Brus! card is just pointing a mate in a direction. A better one.
And fellas, not everything is mental, and it’s always better out than in.
